BETANJAK.COM, KARIMUN — PT TIMAH (Persero) Tbk continues to support community education through a variety of educational initiatives. One of its latest efforts was providing fire safety education and emergency response training for students of Darul Furqan Islamic Boarding School in Sawang Laut Village, West Kundur District, Karimun Regency, Riau Islands Province.
The program was held as part of the 2026/2027 Boarding School Orientation Program (MPLP) in collaboration with PT TIMAH’s Kundur Division Area at the Darul Furqan Islamic Boarding School grounds on Saturday (July 25, 2026).
Through this activity, students received basic knowledge about potential fire hazards, the proper use of fire extinguishers, and the correct and safe procedures for responding to emergency situations.
The Head of Darul Furqan Islamic Boarding School, H. Choirur Rosid, expressed his appreciation to PT TIMAH for providing fire safety education and emergency response simulations for the students.
“We believe it is important for our students to understand potential fire hazards and learn how to respond appropriately. We are grateful that PT TIMAH responded positively to our request, and we hope this kind of collaboration will continue in the future,” he said.
According to him, introducing fire safety awareness from an early stage is essential. With proper knowledge, students will be better equipped to recognize potential risks and respond quickly and appropriately during emergencies.
One of the students, Rasyid, said he was pleased to participate in the program. He explained that the fire safety education provided a valuable new experience, especially for students who had just begun their boarding school journey.
“I really enjoyed this activity. Since I just started at the boarding school, this orientation program has been a memorable experience for both me and my friends,” Rasyid said.
He admitted that before attending the session, he was unfamiliar with the different types of firefighting equipment and their functions. After participating, he gained a better understanding of fire extinguishers and learned how to use them correctly and safely.
“Previously, I didn’t know the different firefighting tools or what they were used for. Now I understand. We were also taught the proper and safe way to extinguish a fire to avoid danger. Thank you to PT TIMAH,” he concluded. (*)
